LDWP South Africa 2007 - Leanne Gordon

hey all!

my name is leanne gordon and i am a 1st year medical student at glasgow university. this summer i have the oportunity to travel to South Africa with the Lasallian Developing World Projects. This charity has been working for over 20 years in various countries throughout africa, india and sri lanka building educational facilities to improve the chances and give hope to many children and communities.

Every year several groups of young people go out to these countries and, living and working with the local people, assist in the building of classroom blocks, water facilities or basic housing.

I took part in a trip to India last summer and i can honestly say the work that is done is very beneficial. The money raised by each participant contributes towards building supplies and the extra labour is also helpful (although there is no doubt that the local builders are the people with the real skill.)

In order to go, I have to raise 1000 pounds!
I have only recently been given a place on the project and as a result I have only 100 pounds so far. Over the next few weeks i will be planning several fundraising events and will post details of these soon. The main one at the moment however, is the Resolution Asset Womens 10k run Glasgow which i will be taking part in on May 13th 2007. Should anyone wish to sponsor me please follow the link below to paypal.

Any amount is very greatly appreciated!

thank you in advance

leanne
